If your animal could talk…
Animal communication may seem like a pretty new (and for some, a “new-agey”) thing. Actually, it’s older than even our spoken language! Animal communication is a way to connect with an animal (or a plant or a person or any other living thing) and have a conversation through the exchange of thoughts, images, feelings, and impressions. From a person’s perspective, it is a way to consider the animal’s point of view. And for the animal it can represent an opportunity to reach out in ways that s/he may have not been able to do before. By bringing both parties’ feelings and concerns together, animal communicators help to strengthen the bonds between the person and their animal friend in both directions. They act as a translator between the two of them, if you will.
Animal communication is different from animal training
While animal communication can certainly help and be a support with training issues, it is not a tool to train an animal. “Training” an animal implies that the animal does certain behaviors or maneuvers when s/he is told by a human to do them. Animal communication can shed light on how the animal might feel about some of the training, or even identify particular focal areas that might be useful for training, but it cannot be used to train or “break” an animal.
